iUP25k - The Business Ideas Competition of the University of Porto is a tool for raising awareness of entrepreneurship and the creation of new businesses based on processes of knowledge and innovation valorisation.
iUP25k is one of the most notorious national initiatives in the area of entrepreneurship, awarding €25,000 in a healthy and positive competition among the best business ideas submitted within U.Porto. This competition is directed not only towards University of Porto students, but also its alumni and all those who want to join them. iUP25k aims to contribute to the materialisation of ideas with strong growth potential, giving visibility to its promoters and to the University of Porto, and to join efforts among the different entrepreneurial support services that exist at U.Porto. By creating this opportunity, U.Porto facilitates access to financing and business partnerships that may be decisive for the development and valorisation of these ideas.
At the iUP25k final event, the 10 chosen ideas are presented in a 5-minute "elevator pitch", leaving a jury of national entrepreneurial references with the task of choosing the winner, as well as the 2nd and 3rd place runners-up. The public will also chose their favourite business idea by voting on the website and during the event. This competition usually includes three phases with distinct characteristics - General Stage, Intermediate Stage and Final Stage, and the competing business ideas are submitted through an online form.
